Gallery Vault - Il File di backup non è valido / The backup file is not valid

Questo post è su cosa fare quando si cambia telefono o comunque si vuole importare un file di backup di Gallery Vault, ma la procedura di importazione vi dice “Il File di backup non è valido”.

Il giro ufficiale, se non si usa il backup su cloud, è che sul vecchio telefono si fa un backup locale: questa procedura genera un file “gv_backup.dat” nella cartella “base” ovvero quella più in alto dove solitamente si avventura un utente normale; ufficialmente il percorso è: “/storage/emulated/0”.

Una volta fatto questo backup lo si copia sul nuovo telefono (eventualmente passando da un PC), mettendolo sempre nella cartella di prima; poi si apre Gallery Vault, si va in “Impostazioni -> Backup e Ripristino” e si sceglie “Ripristina”.

Succede che l’importazione del file di backup non funzioni, e si ottenga il messaggio “Il File di backup non è valido”.

Cosa fare?

Si deve fare così:

1) Si mette il file “gv_backup.dat” su un PC

Il file non è altro che uno .zip, ma con estensione .dat

2) Si cambia l’estensione facendolo diventare “gv_backup.zip”

3) Lo si unzippa sul PC in una cartella locale con un nome a scelta, es: “RobaMia”

Si dovrebbero vedere file e cartelle come quelli di questa immagine

 

E dentro alla cartella “files” una sfilza di cartelle come questa

 

4) Sempre da PC ci si collega al nuovo telefono, e si copia nel percorso base “/storage/emulated/0” la cartella “RobaMia”

Il file “gv_backup.dat”, se è ancora nel percorso base, potete anche cancellarlo

5) Si apre l’App Gallery Vault

6) Si va in “Impostazioni -> Trova file persi” e si clicca sul bottone “Trova file persi”

7) Questo pulsante riesce a trovare i file che avete creato in “RobaMia” e li importa nell’App Gallery Vault

8) Li importa tutti alla rinfusa, per cui se li avevate organizzati in cartelle li dovrete riorganizzare, ma sarà sempre meglio che averli persi

E’ tutto.

This post is about what to do when you change phone or otherwise want to import a Gallery Vault backup file, but the import procedure tells you "The backup file is not valid".

The official procedure, if you do not use cloud backup, is that on the old phone you make a local backup: this procedure generates a "gv_backup.dat" file in the "base" folder or the higher one where a standard user usually goes; officially the path is: "/ storage / emulated / 0".

Once this backup is done, it is copied to the new phone (possibly via PC), always putting it in the base folder; then open Gallery Vault , goes to "Settings -> Backup and Restore" and choose "Restore".

It happens that the import of the backup file does not work, and you get the message "The backup file is not valid".

What to do?

We must do this:

1) Copu the file “gv_backup.dat” on a PC

The file is nothing but a .zip, but with a .dat extension

2) Change the extension by making it "gv_backup.zip"

3) Create a local folder with a name of your choice, eg: "MyStuff", and unzip the file in that folder

You should see files and folders like those in this image

And in the "files" folder a list of folders like this one

4) Always from the PC connect to the new phone, and copy the "MyStuff" folder in the base path "/storage/emulated/0"

If "gv_backup.dat" file is still in the base path, you can delete it

5) Open the App Gallery Vault

6) Go to "Setting -> Find Lost Files" and click on the "Find Lost Files" button

7) This button will find the files you have created in "MyStuff" and import them inside Gallery Vault

8) The files are imported in a unique list, so if they were organized n folders you have to reorganize them, but it will always be better than having them lost

That's all.

It worked for me.
